I am sure with geniusness someone could code the guns and perks/new killstreak system over as well....

Maybe even hack the engine MW2 is running and code the dedicated servers in too... Hell if you can code Multiplayer for GTA III and San Andreas anything is possible....(And people though that rockstar had a brilliant Multiplayer idea, YEAH right stolen from modders)

Maybe this is a matter of profit, to maintain the connections on the pc cost much, while for the PS3 and x-box cost him less then + gain.

I used the money I planned on using to get MW2 with to pre-order Left 4 Dead 2 (I was very impressed by the demo) at $15 cheaper. I will probably eventually end up getting MW2 if IW doesn't relent and if the price goes down (they make the game impossible to pirate and proceed to make the game $10 more, haha what?) but for now I'm staying out of it. Once the stock maps lose their luster we'll be at the mercy of IW to release map packs, which is a terrible system.

My question is are we seeing any development of getting Dedicated Servers Back or How goes the sales of PC MW2?

My god, mw2 hacks are already out and with no server admins no way to kick or ban players that use them.

I agree, but I saved like $120 because no PC, then no Xbox either. But I have played thru the campaign on a friends xbox. It was fun. Oh well. I heard saboteur was a good game and had some good replay value.

Given the "disproportionate contribution" that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 provided to Activision Blizzard's well-padded bottom line, it won't come as a surprise that the next Call of Duty game is coming this holiday season. See? You're not surprised.

Activision Blizzard confirmed its plans to "continue annualizing"
the first-person shooter franchise with the still-unnamed seventh entry
in the billion dollar Call of Duty series, offering little new info.
But executives did talk briefly about the game's release window and
their desire to see some subscription-style revenue from the series.

"If you think about the successes we have had in other categories
on subscriptions, you can get a sense of the direction we want to take
that franchise," Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said during today's
quarterly earnings call, not specifying exactly when it planned to take
such steps.

Execs expected a less "friendly" release window in 2010 than the one
that Modern Warfare 2 had in 2009, when publishers, including
Activision, shifted games from the fourth quarter to the next year.

While Activision Blizzard brass did not name the developer of the next major Call of Duty game, developer Treyarch has been linked to the next iteration.

See, this kind of thing works for WoW though. The subscription revenue, I mean. You have a s*** load of realms to choose from, each with their own population, and with thousands of people on the servers at one time. It's most likely THE biggest MMORPG to date. With all those servers running, you need money to keep them up, patch them, maintanence them, etc. That's where the money goes. It always comes back to the players in some way.

However, on an FPS, there really is no need for a subscription. Why? You don't need to run any servers, since the matches are run locally off one of the players. Sure, there are patches that are put into the Steam updates to fix stuff, but that's about it, as far as subscription revenue goes into that game. And the patches are usually for glitches/bugs or to prevent some cheats from being used. They can patch as much as they want, they will never be able to completely fix everything that goes wrong, such as hackers and cheaters. It's very simple to use a hex editor and change the code on your PC to allow you to cheat, such as changing your ammo or changing player textures.

Unless they plan to use the subscription revenue to run official dedicated servers, I see no need to include the extra expense in an FPS.
