| The economic crisis has hit here bad, started about 2 years ago by black money in the construction sector including back handers to municipal authorities and ilegal recalification of land and too much building going on all this has nuked the construction sector and sent shock waves throughout the rest of the business sectors.
Many town halls got raided and politicians sent to jail because of their greediness and a lot of dirt has been uncovered.
I worked in a real estate company up until january and 3 of us got made redundant for the company to cut costs. Also, many many people have lost their jobs and busineses have closed down because people dont want to spend. This area thrives on real estate and turism and the crisis has put the fear into investors making the sector a buyers market and turists now look for a more economic holiday.
Its really difficult getting a job, I have one for about 6months and I get paid half what I used to get, have to cut down on spending and find it extremely difficult getting to the end of the month, but have found a way to gain interest on some savings which will come in very handy.
All in all its the same story as always, cost of living increases while salary is frozen.
btw, last week I paid 1,13€ per litre of diesel. |

Wow, that´s cheap, it´s 1,26€/l here and they lowered the price lately! Normal gas is something about 1,45€/l ATM i think. |

| It seems we have come full circle. During the past twenty years there has been an upsurge of confidence in Scotland. To a great extent it has been based on the success of our financial services industry. This has not only become Scotland’s biggest private-sector employer but the standard-bearer of what has been seen as a Scottish renaissance. It’s the mast to which the SNP has pinned its colours and, thanks to the apparently successful enterprise of the banks, Alex Salmond has been able to promise that an independent Scotland would become part of an “arc of prosperity” stretching across the small European countries of the north Atlantic. Salmond’s promise looks a bit tarnished today. It seems there's no cure for greed!. |
